Taylor County Schools received an update regarding the use of NTI Days and the extra time added to the instructional day to support days missed. While this has been an extremely mild winter, the West Virginia Department of Education reminded districts that we are still required to have 180 separate days of instruction. While some districts have stated they are releasing earlier than the approved calendar states and or are using NTI Days to accomplish, this is not a legal practice. The department is monitoring each district and will address individually how those days are used. We will continue to update information as we receive.
