Students were recognized for their academic achievements during Tuesday's board meeting. Congratulations to the WV Young Writers Contest County Winners and the National Merit Finalist!

The TCMS Library and Mrs. Conti would like to thank all the fantastic volunteers that came to help during last week's Scholastic Book Fair. The fair would not have run as smoothly nor have been as successful without your help! We would also like to thank Dollar General for donating bags to help our students carry all of their fabulous purchases. All proceeds from the fair go directly to purchasing more books for our library; thank you to all TCMS students, families, and staff for your continued support!

The next Noble Knights breakfast will be on April 4 @ 8:30.

There will be no tutoring after school Thursday, March 27 due to the parent teacher conference after school.

We will be doing a pajama day on Tuesday, 3/25/25 to raise money for the Hay's family that lost everything in their barn fire. $1.00. In addition, we will be selling snacks on Thursday at the end of the day. Pickles, baked lays, bottled water. $1.00 each.

Congratulations to the softball team for their win against WI. Go Knights!

Congratulations to the baseball team for their win Friday against WI. Go Knights!

On Friday, April 11 @ 9:00 AM, students will be traveling to GHS for the musical of Legally Blonde. The rating is PG 13. Admission will be $1.00. Permission slips will be sent home and will need to be returned by April 4. No late permission slips will be accepted and if a student does not have a permission slip, they will not be allowed to attend.

As a gentle reminder, parent pick up at the end of the day is only in the back drive. Only if you have a student getting off of a bus from an elementary school can you also pick up a middle school student.

Bullet proof window tint has been added to our windows. A great additional safety measure for our students, faculty and staff. Thank you Taylor County BOE for your continued support.

We still have two more days to shop the Scholastic Book Fair. Tomorrow, our 7th grade will get to walk through and shop; our 8th grade students will have their shopping day Friday. There is still time for everyone to find a great book at this year's fair!

TCMS will be going to the High School on April 16 to see the Entertainers perform @ 12:30. Bus transportation will be provided and permission slips will be sent home. Permission slips will need to be returned by April 9. If a student does not return a permission slip they will not be allowed to attend and no permission slips will be accepted after April 9.

Today is the 5th grade shopping day here at the TCMS Book Fair; but we are also hosting the Friends & Family Event tonight from 3:30 - 5:30 PM. Please stop in and shop with us if you are able; there really is nothing like the Scholastic Book Fair! Remember 6th grade shops Wednesday. For our entire schedule, please visit our book fair page: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/tcms25

As a reminder, our Parent Teacher Conference will be Thursday, March 27. 3:30-5:30.

On April 23 and 24, Tiffany Helke, MBA, from the Bureau for Public Health, will be here to present to the 8th grade students only. All items discussed will be age appropriate. The students will be divided into two separate groups (male and female).
Topics to Discuss Include:
1. Reproductive Life Plans- just asking simple questions of 1. Would you want a family? 2. At what age would you like to have a family (if they answered yes)? 3. Are there any goals they would like to complete first (such as go to college, find a career path, travel the world, be financially secure)? and 4. What does it take to raise a baby or what does a baby need?
2. Characteristics of Healthy and Unhealthy Relationships-talking to trusted adults when there are concerns.
3. MythBusters- this is a game about facts and fiction for reproductive health such as pregnancy, STIs, and bullying.
4. Ovulation Demonstration/ Review- talking about how the egg is released from the ovary, fertilizes in the fallopian tube, and implementation to the uterus lining.
5. Birth Control facts- reviewing the types from a brochure that provides statistical efficiency, length of use, and what each one is.
6. STI/STD/HIV- reviewing the common types (Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, Herpes, Pubic Lice, Trichomoniasis, and HPV), symptoms of each and how to protect oneself.
7. Transmission Game- shows how easily they can spread.
8. WV Family Planning Program Information- providing students with the Grafton-Taylor Health Dept. that offers services from our program for free and provides confidentiality.
A permission slip will be sent home and will need to be returned by April 16 to the homeroom teacher. If a student does not turn in a slip, they will not attend. No late signed permission slips will be accepted.
Thank You in advance
