Parents, students, and staff, even though most of you have seen, I am going to repost below the message from Mrs. Miller about our current mask "status". Being in a voluntary status in regard to wearing a mask or not will mean our contact tracing for exposures will expand to include classrooms and not just breakfast and lunch. As always, you should guide your child in whether he or she should chose to wear a mask if you believe it will offer protection from Covid-19 exposure. I wish I could say that if your child is wearing a mask they will not get quarantined, but under current guidance both the positive person and your child would both need to be masked to avoid a quarantine. If one is unmasked them both must quarantine. This does not change from our previous guidance, but previously we only had to worry about this while one or both students was eating. Like you, I wish that schools could return to the days where they only taught a curriculum. However, we appreciate your continued support. MASK UPDATE FOR TAYLOR COUNTY SCHOOLS Christy Miller NOV 28, 2021 Dear Families and Students, Taylor County Schools hopes you enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving with your families and friends. The holiday reminds us of all we have to be thankful for and allows us to enter a season of hope for what is to come. There is nothing like seeing the holidays through a child’s eyes. As we return to school tomorrow, November 29, 2021, our schools will be operating with masks as a personal choice for our families and staff members. The only exception is on our county buses. We are mandated to keep masks on while transporting students by the CDC. While it is understood we do not have updated numbers on cases in our county, the WVDHHR has not updated the map since last week. Once the map is updated, if we should turn red, we will immediately return to wearing masks the following school day for 14 days. We urge you to continue to practice and remind your students to wash hands regularly, maintain distance between other students as much as possible and cough or sneeze into the elbow. Taylor County Schools appreciates your continued support and understanding as we learn to continue to navigate the safest learning environment for our students. Christy Miller, Superintendent

Mask update for return to school on November 29, 2021 can be found in the News section of all school websites. Masks will be a personal choice and mandated on all buses as outlined by the CDC. Changes will occur if cases rise and our county is red on the WVDHHR map. Please support mitigation strategies as we continue to navigate COVID.

We recently have had a food drive here at the school. Our kids did an awesome job! The food from the food drive will be used to stock our Blessing Boxes. They have been restocked and will continue to be restocked regularly. If you or family have any need please don’t hesitate to make use of what’s available. The boxes are stocked with food and hygiene items.

Thank you to the Rotary Club and Mr. Westfall and Mr. Cartwright for treating our 5th and 6th grade homeroom winners to breakfast in this year's Penny Wars. Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Reed's homerooms raised the most money to help eradicate polio in those grades, respectively. The 7th and 8th grade winners will have their breakfast Thursday!

If you want to have their pictures retaken, please have them bring their unwanted portraits with them on Friday so Lifetouch can provide the same package your family previously purchased.

This week Mrs. Lipscomb's classes learned a little about Veterans Day and why it's just not a day off from school. This classroom is supporting wounded warriors and their families through a new Veterans Day education and fundraising campaign – Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) Honor Their Courage! They've set a fundraising goal for their classroom and as Veterans Day is currently on our minds, they're learning about the history, sacrifices, and realities of service members. Every dollar raised transforms the lives of America’s injured veterans and helps provide lifesaving programs and services that empower wounded warriors as they take on their next mission in life. Join this class today and donate by clicking the link below. Thank you for supporting this classroom, and more importantly, for supporting lifesaving programs for wounded warriors and their families. https://communityfundraising.woundedwarriorproject.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donate.participant&participantID=7827
