Our GHS Library 💙💛 Mrs. Bartlett would like to thank to those who helped her get the Pearl Buck/Asian Experience book display completed. Students are getting to try Chinese tea and moon cakes, while they watch a Chinese tea ceremony online. They are celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival of Asian cultures, which coincides with our own harvest celebrations; so, happy fall, y’all. 🍁

Coach Bord and Mrs Shumaker had a great meeting with the board for Friends of Grafton HS Baseball today. The baseball complex is overdue for an upgrade, and we are excited to be part of this process. If you have not already done so, check out their Facebook page and support this endeavor. This community has proven many times that if you dream it, you can do it.

It is a great Monday when you have emails like this in your inbox. This is an email from an official in the WVSSAC. Shout out to Coach Bord, Coach Foley, players and all support staff for the excellent work. "Explanation: Players and coaches displayed excellent sportsmanship during their game against Liberty. They were all respectful toward the officials and to the playes' of the opposing team. Grafton should be very proud of their facility, and the people who assist with game day preparation including the clock keepers, PA announcer, and especially the chain crew, which did a great job. Rich Bord is responsible for all of this and should be praised for all of his hard work and dedication to his school and community. Grafton always provides a nice dressing facility with food and drinks for the officials. This hospitality and generosity is much appreciated by all officials that get to officiate games at Grafton High School. Thanks so much to Coach Bord, the football coaches, and staff for running one of the best venues and facilities in the state."

Each student received a copy of his/her Rooms code for family logins today. Rooms is the new communication software the county deployed this year. The good news is, once you create the account, it is good for all classes and activities, so you do not need a code for each class and activity. It will allow you to receive information and communicate with school personnel. (It will be used in replace of Remind.) Below are directions on how to get started once you have an account. Let's start by acknowledging all the time and resources Mr. Waters has been dedicating to developing the Strength and Speed Program at GHS. His knowledge and commitment are recognized and appreciated. Next let's give a big shout out to Jacob Nestor. He submitted an excellent design in the contest for the program logo. Jacob received a $50 Amazon gift card as the contest winner. Congratulations Jacob and thanks to everyone who submitted a design. Check out his design below!

Thank you to the WVSSAC for hosting a leadership summit again this year and to Coach Foley for being willing to chaperone. Athletes and leaders representing GHS were Bailey Satterfield, Jaxson Hall, Claire McCarthy and Cole Lambert. #GonnaBeLeaders

This year, students are nominating peers and staff members as outstanding humans. There will be a student from each grade level and two staff members selected each month. Below are the outstanding humans from September. The comments are a composition of what was submitted with the individual's nominations. 9th  Landon Jefferson He is a good leader. Leads by example. He is a handworker who is kind, caring and demonstrates good manners. He is always in a good mood and is a problem solver. He is an all around good person. 10th Miley Singleton Miley is nice to everyone. She is kind, friendly and helpful. She always has a smile. She is a great person to be around. 11th MJ Niggemyer He is a charismatic individual who  is smart and friendly. He is involved in a lot of areas at school and is a good leader. He is funny. 12th Madeline Shaver She is very respectful of peers and adults.  She represents the class of 2024 well. She demonstrates leadership qualities by serving as our Vice President. She is one of kindest students you will ever meet.   She never fails to make others feel included. She always wears a smile on her face and works hard for the things she wants. Her strive and want to be kind and work hard is inspiring to anyone she knows. STAFF The Cooks - Mrs. Pitzer, Mrs. Kellerman, Mrs. Lawson and Mrs. Maley They are kind, generous, hardworking, under appreciated, helpful and always have a smile. Mrs. Kasraoui Mrs. Kasraoui is an inspiration to us. She is nice, is excellent at explaining topics and understanding. She guides students with a soft voice. She is does not yell and is always positive.  #GonnaBeOutstanding
