Volunteers Needed - Be the change! GHS is excited to host Building Hope for the second year. The program is a full day with the freshman class. We need approximately 30 volunteers. Building Hope utilizes high energy activities to support students, staff and volunteers in catalyzing positive change in the culture of our school. Activities focus on how our behaviors impact others. The program does more than just teach that bullying is wrong. Building Hope sheds light on the root causes that lead to problematic behavior. If you are interested please contact Mrs. Shumaker at the school, 304-265-3046, or email, lrshumak@k12.wv.us. The program will be February 24th.

On February 2nd, GHS Spanish classes will be participating in Celebration Día de la Candelaria "Candlemas". Candelemas is outside of attending church services, Candelaria is celebrated at home with a big family dinner, usually with tamales. The tradition actually begins a month earlier on Three King's Day when families eat the typical holiday cake called rosca de Reyes, which has a small figurine of baby Jesus baked into the dessert. Thank you to our Spanish teachers for helping our students learn about the culture and allowing them to have these experiences.
