Here are the latest projects coming out of the art room. We have 6th grade Knight Drawings, studying proportions. Then, 7th grade One- point Perspective Collages and 5th Grade Nutcrackers. Also, 7th grade Māori inspired Self- portraits, 8th grade Illuminated Letters and 6th grade Winter Birch Paintings, all hanging in the hallways.
What’s happening in our STEM lab…
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Students designed and built rooms in a Whoville house from cardboard and other provided materials. Our “Grinch” was made from a cup to place over our SPHERO robots.
The “Grinch” ran code to go from house to house stealing Christmas cheer (students removing items from each house and adding them to their Grinch).
This activity was full of design, creativity, teamwork, division of tasks, coding, and much more.
We can’t wait to see what we can do in 2022!

There will be NO SCHOOL for students December 23, 2021 through January 2, 2022.

TCMS had a great day at after-school tutoring! Christmas celebration with a pizza party, snacks, and law enforcement appreciation. We had a wonderful turn out from law enforcement and the kids loved competing against them.
What a wonderful evening celebrating music, family, and our TCMS community! Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade outdid themselves performing live for the first time in a year-and-a-half. Thank you to Mr. Chaido and all who made tonight a success!
Good luck to our cheer leaders as they compete this Saturday Dec 18th in The Bridge Holiday Cheer Invitational. This competition is at The Bridge Sports Complex (400 Forrester Blvd, Bridgeport). Doors open at 9am and the competition starts at 10:00am. Our TCMS cheerleaders compete at approximately 11:00am for routine and 1:40 for sideline.) Admission for the event is $5 (cash only). Children 5 and under are free. Admission does not allow access to the rest of the facility. Outside food & beverages are not permitted. There is a full service concession inside The Bridge for participants and spectators.

Good luck to our TCMS band students as they perform in their Christmas Band Concert on tomorrow, Wednesday December 15th. The concert will be held in the GHS auditorium and will begin at 6:30 pm. Merry Christmas and see you there!
We will also be having a silent auction bake sale. The auction begins before the concert at 6pm . There will be a couple intermissions during the concert for you to check on your auction bids and such!
TCMS Jingle Gifts will be this Friday, December 17th from 6 to 7 pm! Drive through the front lot to see the lights, Santa, and receive a gift.

This evening the Taylor Count Board of Education voted to remove the mask mandate immediately. Masks will be parent choice. Masks must still be worn on school buses. Additional information included in the vote will be shared when we receive a written statement.

Taylor County is red on the WVDHHR map today, December 2, 2021. Therefore as passed by the Taylor County Board of Education at their August 24, 2021 meeting we will mask in all facilities and transportation for the next 14 days beginning tomorrow December 3, 2021.
Parents, as we navigate this time where masks are optional we are no longer just quarantining from breakfast and lunch exposures. Because we are now quarantining from class exposure as well, our numbers are going to go up noticeably. To determine quarantine lists we are looking at mask status, vaccination status, and distance from the positive student. If your child is quarantined, you will receive a robo call and a text stating this: "TCMS Covid Alert." This message will be followed the next day by an email to your student with the quarantine notice and information about homework. Thank you for bearing with us in this troubling time. Go Knights.
TCMS Christmas Choral Concert!!!
On December 7th at 7:00pm at the GHS auditorium please come see our choirs perform. Admission is free but donations accepted will be accepted. This concert will feature the 5/6th grade choir , the 7/8th grade choir, the GHS Concert Choir, and the GHS Entertainers.
Parents, students, and staff, even though most of you have seen, I am going to repost below the message from Mrs. Miller about our current mask "status". Being in a voluntary status in regard to wearing a mask or not will mean our contact tracing for exposures will expand to include classrooms and not just breakfast and lunch. As always, you should guide your child in whether he or she should chose to wear a mask if you believe it will offer protection from Covid-19 exposure. I wish I could say that if your child is wearing a mask they will not get quarantined, but under current guidance both the positive person and your child would both need to be masked to avoid a quarantine. If one is unmasked them both must quarantine. This does not change from our previous guidance, but previously we only had to worry about this while one or both students was eating. Like you, I wish that schools could return to the days where they only taught a curriculum. However, we appreciate your continued support.

Dear Families and Students,
Taylor County Schools hopes you enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving with your families and friends. The holiday reminds us of all we have to be thankful for and allows us to enter a season of hope for what is to come. There is nothing like seeing the holidays through a child’s eyes.
As we return to school tomorrow, November 29, 2021, our schools will be operating with masks as a personal choice for our families and staff members. The only exception is on our county buses. We are mandated to keep masks on while transporting students by the CDC.
While it is understood we do not have updated numbers on cases in our county, the WVDHHR has not updated the map since last week. Once the map is updated, if we should turn red, we will immediately return to wearing masks the following school day for 14 days. We urge you to continue to practice and remind your students to wash hands regularly, maintain distance between other students as much as possible and cough or sneeze into the elbow.
