
Thank you to everyone who made our first annual block party a success. We had a great turn out and a lot of fun. Special thanks to the faculty and staff who participated, local businesses who set up and the National Guard for bringing the climbing wall. Big shout out to all the students and families who attended. (That is Mrs. Shumaker on the climbing wall. We will not discuss how far she may or may not have made it. 😬😂)

The Magic of New Beginnings...

Reminder - Tomorrow is New Student Orientation and Back to School Block Party.
New student orientation will begin at 5:00. The location was moved to the Scotty Hamilton Gymnasium. You can enter through the main entrance on Yates Avenue or through the gym doors on Yates Avenue.
There will be an information session, tour, schedule distribution and time for questions.
Beginning at 6:30, we will have our first annual Block Party to kick off the school year. The weather looks great. Bring a chair and come out and join us on Sam Bord Drive. We will have student recognitions, introduce fall teams, Entertainers and the band will play. There will be some food vendors set up so bring some cash and plan to have dinner while you are there.
We will also have a table set up for senior citizens to get their sport and fine art passes.

Virtual Students Gr. 6-12 iPad Distribution:
An iPad distribution time, date, and location will be announced once the list of virtual students is finalized and approved.
Virtual School Grades 6-12 registration closes today at 4:00PM.

GHS faculty participated in an ice breakers workshop today. There was certainly laughter involved. It was great to hear it. We look forward to a a year filled with laughter and learning. We also attended a session with Matt Tolliver regarding Covid affects on our social and mental wellbeing. We must take care of ourselves se we can take care of our students.

GHS administration welcomed faculty and staff back to the building today with breakfast. Thank you to Kevin Curry for making the sausage gravy. It was delicious.


Thank you to our football coaching staff for organizing a team trip to Tygart Adventures. The smiles on their faces certainly indicate they had a great time.


Central Office Caravan bringing the message of "Our Best Year!" to all of our schools on opening day! Sharing that it is our pleasure to offer our "menu" of services to support their needs kicks off a great start to a great year!!

It is time once again to form the GHS Local School Improvement Council. We need 3 parents/guardians and 3 community members/business representatives.
This is an opportunity to support and propose initiatives at the school.

The group meets a minimum of once each nine weeks.


Don’t forget to join us Tuesday evening, 8/24, at 6:30 for our block party. We will be introducing groups and recognizing accomplishments such as this.
2021 STATE FFA CONVENTION!
Another successful State Convention is in the books, in person at Cedar Lakes.
The Parliamentary Procedure Team placed third. Team members Olivia Shaver, Mattie Shaver, James Helmondollar, Anna Stottlemyer, Katelyn Detamore and Mason Kinsey.
Four members received their State FFA Degree, Katelyn Detamore, James Helmondollar, Olivia Shaver, and not picture Amber Smith.
What a great time with great FFA members.
